I’m Katie, a recent law school graduate about to begin work in the city of Chicago. I live in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area and dabble in journalism, vegetarianism, veganism and probably a whole host of other isms that I won’t get into here.
But mostly (for the purposes of this blog), I’m interested in eating whole foods, knowing where my food comes from and going on the occasional running or yoga kick in between bouts of laziness. I love to write, so this blog is part entertainment for me and part motivation (it began as part of my New Year’s resolution to live “greener” in 2012). Over the past few months, I’ve “greened” my kitchen by buying local and drastically cutting down on meat, and I’m enjoying biking around my neighborhood. My “needs improvement” areas are exercise (enthusiastic, but sporadic) and taking public transportation. I’m pretty sure my mom reads my blog, so I know at least one person is holding me accountable.
I used to be an environmental reporter and book reviewer and am still a news junkie, so I’ll also post the occasional article on food, health, travel or urban issues. It’s like having your own personal news clipper!
I hope you enjoy the articles, recipes, music and stories I share here, both the successes and the mishaps. I’d love to hear from you!
